Clarksville was founded in 1784. It is the 5th largest city in the state of Tennessee. The city is 1 hour North of Nashville and neighbors Fort Campbell Army Base. Approximately 80 percent of active-duty soldiers and their families choose to live in Clarksville TN, making the city the second-highest locations for military retirees in the nation. Clarksville is also the home of Austin Peay State University. Established in 1927, and named after a former Governor of TN, Austin Peay State University is one of the fastest growing institutions in the state. Over the past decade Austin Peay State University has been expanding it horizons; physically, academically, and athletically.
